The Story So Far:

When the ancient Ark of the Covenent was discovered in a chamber under the Calvery escarpment a crack was seen in the cave ceiling, directly over the Mercy Seat of the Ark.

Thrusting a metal tape measure up through the crack, the team members found that it emerged at the left side of the centre cross hole, 20 feet higher in the rock.

The Same Crack

During the siege of Jerusalem by the Babylonians in 587/6 BC, God directed Jeremiah and/or some priests to HIDE THE ARK OF THE COVENANT in a cave chamber.

Six hundred years later, THE ROMANS CUT SQUARE CROSS HOLES IN THE ROCK DIRECTLY ABOVE THE CHAMBER. And IN ONE OF THESE CROSS HOLES, JESUS CHRIST WAS CRUCIFIED.

Matthew states that, at the moment of Jesus' death on the cross, the earth shook violently and "the rocks were rent (split open)" (Matt.27:51).

Immediately to the left of the centre cross hole, at the very base of that hole which had held the cross of Jesus, the rock was TORN OPEN.

A SPLIT IN THE STONE LED FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CROSS HOLE DOWN INTO THE CAVE CHAMBER WHERE THE ARK HAD BEEN SECRETLY HIDDEN 600 YEARS BEFORE.

A Spear Thrust Into His Side

The priests and rulers were amazed to find that Christ was dead. Death by the cross was a lingering process; it was difficult to determine when life had ceased. It was an unheard of thing for one to die within six hours of crucifixion. The priests wished to make sure of the death of Jesus, and at their suggestion a soldier thrust a spear into the Saviour's side.

From the wound thus made, there flowed two copious and distinct streams, one of blood, the other of water. This was noted by all who stood by (John 19: 34-37)

But it was not the spear thrust, it was not the pain of the cross, that caused the death of Jesus.

That cry, uttered "with a loud voice" (Matt.27:50) at the moment of death, and the stream of blood and water that flowed from his side, declared that He died of a broken heart. His heart was broken by mental anguish. He was slain by the sin of the world that He had chosen to bear.

Blood In The Cross Hole

When the centurion stuck his spear into Christ's side, and that blood and water flowed out, it flowed down His side, and right into that split in the stone. And it flowed down on to the Mercy Seat!

To receive the blood of Jesus right down on to it, the Lord God CRACKED THAT HILL WIDE OPEN - for the blood to go on to the Mercy Seat. And the salvation of the human family (those who would accept it) was assured.

The all-knowing God had arranged for the Ark to be hidden in that chamber some 600 years before Jesus Christ died.

A Massive Quantity Of Blood

The Ark of the Covenant, with its Mercy Seat sits just over 20 feet below the base of the cross hole where Jesus died.

The fissure has been closely examined. It clearly took a massive quantity of blood. (It shows.)

This evidence was preserved by the fact that after the Crucifixion the cross hole was sealed shut by the 14 inch (35 cm) stone plug which our men found in position and which has now been retrieved.

Christ's Blood On The Mercy Seat

On January 6, 1982, Ron first entered the chamber containing the Ark of the Covenant and numerous other things which we believe are the rest of the furnishings constructed at Sinai by God's explicit directions for the earthly sanctuary.

Upon the Mercy Seat, he found what looked to him to be dried blood. Today, we know that this is blood and that it is human. We believe it is the very blood that Jesus shed for our sins.

This concept was entirely new to us but, as we consider the matter, it becomes clearer that this was the only way it could have happened to show the world that the symbol was fulfilled perfectly.

God Speaks To Us In Parables

In His dealings with created mankind, God teaches us His great truths in the only manner in which we can understand them - through examples, parables and similes. When He addressed the people, Jesus spoke only in parables.

"All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them." Matt. 13:34)

God's plan to save men and women would require Jesus becoming the Perfect Sacrifice on earth. Only after His death and ascension to heaven did He assume His official office of Mediator and High Priest in the heavenly places. But between His death as the Sacrifice for sin, and His assumption to His Priestly role in heaven, lies the event on which it all hinged - the presenting of His blood to His Father.

His Blood Presented To God

Many people assume that His Blood had to be presented in heaven to His Father. But that was not possible. Christ died on earth, not in heaven. He was still on earth - in the grave - when His sacrifice was accepted. IT HAD TO BE ACCEPTED BEFORE HE WOULD BE RESURRECTED.

Others think that His blood had only to fall upon the ground to be considered "offered" to the Father. But we need to look carefully for the ancient symbol given for this real event. God gave extremely explicit instructions as to the offering of the blood in the ancient symbolic sacrifices For the least small deviation from His instructions a priest could be struck dead. The sacrifice had to be perfect. Remember what happened to Aaron's sons, Nadab and Abihu, when they offered "strange" fire before the Lord at Sinai?

"And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord, when they offered strange fire before the Lord." Num. 3:4

The point is this: God required His holy things to be kept undefiled. He would not accept an offering that was not perfect, that did not meet all the requirements, in its presentation.

We cannot believe the Father would allow His Son's Blood to be offered simply upon the ground - since the earth is DEFILED.

The Mercy Seat on the Ark was the only undefiled spot upon earth. It was where God had revealed His Presence in the past. And God preserved His earthly throne, the Mercy Seat on the Ark of the Covenant, and kept it undefiled by man or demon. Only on the Mercy Seat could His blood be offered to His Father. When the blood and water fell upon it, the offering was accepted.

Also of consideration is, How was Christ to offer His Own Blood when it was shed after His death? Was He to offer it after He rose from the dead, when He went to heaven? No, because His sacrifice had to be accepted by His Father before He would be resurrected.

Between Christ's death and His resurrection, something happened which ratified the covenant between God and man. His blood fell on to the Mercy Seat. His Father saw that the offering was perfect in every way and also that it was presented to Him in a manner that was consistent with His requirements. It was accepted!

On Earth, Not In Heaven

Until His death, every sacrificial symbol would meet its fulfilment in the real event ON EARTH, not in heaven. Jesus Christ's blood was shed on earth, not in heaven.

The once and eternal offering was made. His blood fell upon THE EARTHLY THRONE OF HIS FATHER, the central object of the Most Holy Place.

Daniel's Prophecy

And Daniel wrote to tell us WHEN this would occur:

"Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins (translated "sin offerings" 116 times) and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to ANOINT THE MOST HOLY" (Dan.9:24).

The Hebrew, here translated to read "most Holy", is the very same phrase as "Most Holy Place".

It is also used many times to denote objects in the Most Holy Place.

And since "anointing" was symbolic of the cleansing and covering by Christ's blood, it follows that the fulfilment in reality by Christ can only be the ANOINTING of the central object of the Most Holy Place by the only substance in the universe which can ever REALLY cleanse and Purify - THE BLOOD OF CHRIST.

Logically, all these events at Christ's death would occur together ON EARTH.

"Type Versus Antitype" Violated?

Question: In the Old Testament sanctuary ceremonies, blood was sprinkled on the Mercy Seat only on the Day of Atonement (Sept. /Oct.). But since Jesus died on Passover day (March/April), wouldn't His blood dropping on to the Mercy Seat at that time do violence to the "type" and "antitype" fulfilment?

Answer: In one simple act, Jesus demonstrated the heart of the whole complex sanctuary message.

His blood (shed for the sinner) spilled on to the Mercy Seat, which covered the Law. By breaking that Law we had become sinners, subject to death. Now His death, an act of mercy, set us free.

It's just like God to do a thing in such a way that even the simplest mind could understand that sacrifice and what it means.

Of course, the old ceremonial days (Pentecost, Atonement, etc) were prophetic of different events in future Christian history. Those priests shed blood in sacrifices MANY times. Jesus did it "ONCE" (Heb.7:27). The Scripture tells us that in that single detail the "type" cannot fit; it is "not the very image" (Heb.10:1).

The time of the year that His blood went on to the earthly Mercy Seat is not crucial here. Jesus was not required to spill it on the ceremonial Day of Atonement. The symbols of the animal blood that had been shed on all these days of the year, He had to fulfil in ONE act.

All the detailed prophecies concerning the Saviour's death had to be accomplished IN THAT ONE ACT.

Our High Priest in heaven today pleads our case at the Mercy Seat by virtue of His blood spilt ONCE on earth.

Something else. In God's eyes, when the veil was torn from top to bottom, the earthly sanctuary ceased to exist.

Then, for a brief moment, something happened that was outside the sanctuary.

It was a ONCE ONLY act of God to demonstrate in a direct way the whole purpose of Jesus' death. One item of the sanctuary had been preserved for that purpose - the Ark of the Covenant.
The blood spilled on to the Mercy Seat that was over the Law - and God's mercy to those who had broken that Law was confirmed.

The Blood Tests

Mary Nell Wyatt, wife of the biblical archaeologist, reports: No one was any more surprised when Ron first publicly told about the results of the blood tests on the specimens he had taken from the Mercy Seat than I was. As I have said, there is a great deal he hasn't told even me, and this was one of those instances.

He had taken other specimens from along the crack where it extends through the bedrock adjacent to the cross-hole and I myself had been able to take a small sample, rehydrate it over a 3 day period, and view the red blood cells through the microscope.

But even then, he never mentioned to me any actual lab analyses being done. Nor have I ever seen the other specimen. Therefore, all I can report here is what he has already said, as he has told me that when the time is right, he plans to have 2 unbiased geneticists go into the chamber, take their own samples, and each do his own independent analysis which will be filmed in progress.

Again, this is HIS plan - what HE hopes will occur - but, as with everything else, we do not know for sure exactly how, when or where everything will ultimately occur.

But for now, he has nothing more to say on the subject. He learned from his experiences with Noah's Ark that even when he had the lab analyses filmed as they were done, there were those who came up with incredible reasons for discounting the results, such as saying that Ron "made" the specimen, etc.

My personal opinion is this: IF the Lord intends that His Son's Blood be shown publicly to have such unique characteristics that His humanity and divinity cannot be denied, He will arrange for this evidence to be presented in a manner that "clever" men cannot "explain it away" from honest people. Since the time that Ron found the Blood, genetic (DNA) research has come a long way, perhaps indicating that God is preparing mankind for the proof that will not remain silent, but will shake the world. So, for now, just consider what little Ron has told, and again, watch and wait.

In 1997 Vicky Vaughan was singing in a small cafe where people were gathering who had come from a lecture by Ron Wyatt. She said that they claimed Ron had told them that the blood tests had turned up to show "living" blood. jph

Israeli Government Reaction

We are asked, "How does the Israeli Government react to the find?"

The Israeli authorities do not know how to handle this discovery. The find has made them nervous. While they know of its location, they have decided that the matter is too politically volatile for them to go public. An official announcement could provoke "premature" action by fringe groups wanting to build a new Temple.

Extremists have already demonstrated a willingness to destroy the Moslem Dome of the Rock which they believe sits illegally on the old Temple Mount.

Some time ago, a permit was granted to some Israelis to undertake an excavation under the Temple Mount. But it vas soon reported that workmen had been seen lugging crates into the excavation tunnel. The authorities investigated and found that the tunnel had already penetrated to a spot under the Dome of the Rock - and explosives were being set in place, presumably to blow up the place.

The Al Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock, together named the Haram al-Sharif, comprise the third most important place for the Moslem people.
Sabotage of the site might well provoke an Islamic Jihad (holy war). The Israeli government desires to maintain good relations with the Arabs. It does not want to disturb the peace with the Arabs.

When Ron provided some evidence of the discovery, the authorities devised a plan to "test" the water, so to speak. They decided to determine public reaction to a possible announcement of the discovery of the Ark of the Covenant and to a possible building of a new Temple.

The result was a bloody clash and many deaths.

There are extremists who would feel safe in provoking a war if they knew they had the Ark "on their side".

Government officials now regard this as a critical issue, in which the safety of the people must come first.

In view of the prospect of a negotiable peace in the Middle East, the present actions of the government are deliberately against any disclosure of what it knows.
They have already restricted Israeli religious access to the sensitive Temple Mount above and below ground.

It was just one week after our departure from Israel last October that Prime Minister Rabin was assassinated, and the government was blaming one of those disaffected extremists.

And because the government has placed a clamp on some information concerning our discovery of the Ark, we do not go against the host government.

Attitude Of Jewish Religious Leaders

Many great rabbis of the past and present have rejected, on religious grounds, any search for the Ark.

Lubavitcher rabbis have said: "What will you do with it if you find it? Will you bring tourists to look at it? You had better leave it closed until its time will come!"

An Official Attempts ToView The Ark

In 1989, Dan Barhart, a doctor of archaeology in charge of the Jerusalem district that year, decided to go into the cave and take a look at the Ark for himself .

We believe that as he tried to enter the chamber, his back collapsed. As a consequence, he lay in agony for two weeks.
He admitted that his back had never before given him trouble. After that, he gave up any idea of going in to view the Ark of the Covenant.

One Man's Bit To Tell The Media

Five people have lost their lives at the very time they were attempting to interfere with or even halt the excavation.
One man stumbled upon the discovery when he noticed the team members coming and going from the excavation. He began to ask questions. He soon found out what was going on and was determined to learn the precise location.

As Ron entered the hotel that night, this man approached him again. "Will you show me where is the Ark of the Covenant?" he requested. "I don't know you," was Ron's reply. "Why should I tell you?" But the man was not to be put off. Each day he kept pestering the archaeologist to tell him the location.

Failing to elicit this information, the man resorted to watching Ron's movements by following him at a distance. He found out the location.

He was determined that the whole world needed to know.

Then he called the media and told them he would hold a press conference the next day, in which he was to announce "a great discovery". The press conference was scheduled for 9 am.

"Tomorrow I shall tell the world," he said to Ron. "You can' t do that," was Ron's reply. "It's too sensitive." "Well," said the man, "I'm going to do it, anyway." That night, the team members changed their flight and left early. The press conference was to take place in a nearby alley-way, a relatively secluded place. The next morning, when the journalists arrived, they found the man lying in the alley-way, in a pool of blood. There was a bullet hole in the back of his head. He had been shot by a single "sniper bullet".

"Arab estremists," said the newspaper. No further explanation was given.

More Of The "Dark Side"

Attacks are sometimes made upon our work (almost always by people who are unaware of the weight of evidence). We prefer not to fight back. Firstly, because we are too busy sharing the news to the millions who are hungry for it. And secondly, because we pray for such ones by name. And we have seen miracles of change occur, as a result. These doubting Thomases are still precious to God. I would like to share with you how Mary Nell (Ron's wife) reacts to similar attacks. Here is her comment:

"I could easily write volumes on the experiences Ron has had with those who have tried to interfere with the work, as well as those who have taken it upon themselves to try to discredit him and his work with hearsay and personal opinions. I know of 2 people who worked with Ron on one discovery (not this one) who both expressed to me that - bottom line - they "turned on him" because they simply cannot believe that he found the Ark of the Covenant. "Well the way I look at that if Thomas wouldn't believe Christ was really standing before him until he saw the imprint of the nails in His hands and the wound in His side - and Christ DIDN'T chastise him for this. In fact, this very episode may have happened for the benefit of those who would come later and COULDN'T see Him, but would read of Thomas's need of 'proof'. "It is no 'sin' to require evidence. "Faith" is not blind - it is based on reality which is all around us. But what was sufficient in the past is no longer sufficient to the 'man' of today who is bombarded by so-called 'scientific' evidences which the 'experts' interpret to us as 'positive evidence' that the Bible is a 'myth'.

"God, in His mercy, is providing hard evidence for a generation that has been taught to believe 'as gospel' the 'word' of our educators and men of 'higher learning'. No one should accept anyone's word on anything until they can see evidence. However, when someone has backed up other claims with solid evidence, that is sufficient reason to consider something they may claim but be unable to prove at the time. Educate yourself on the subject and withhold judgment until solid evidence is shown 'yea' or 'nay'."

Another Reason For The Offician Clampdown

Just think! If this discovery does not convince the Jewish people that they crucified the Lord of glory, their Messiah, then what will?

You see, they may be excited about discovering the Ark of the Covenant, because that is the most important piece of furniture for their Temple.

But the last blood to flow on to that was the Blood of Jesus Christ. Can they take the blood of animals again and sprinkle it on that Mercy Seat? Over the Blood of Jesus? They have a decision to make.

Just think about that, the potency of it, and what that means for you and for me.

In the 6th century BC, when the Babylonians were about to attack Jerusalem, the prophet Jeremiah had predicted that the city would fall to the Babylonians.

Some faithful priests (and probably Jeremiah himself) were moved by the Lord to take the Ark of the Covenant out of the Temple and hide it in this hill, this rock quarry, and to seal it up.

When the Babylonians came, they confiscated all the precious artifacts, the gold and silver, that was inside Jerusalem, but didn't think about anything being outside the city.

Then, 600 years later, to receive the blood of Jesus right down on to it, God cracked that hill wide open when Jesus said, "It is finished." And His blood flowed down on to that Mercy Seat.

Now, after about 2,600 years, the Lord reveals the Ark of the Covenant again - shortly before Jesus returns.

DO YOU SEE THE DILEMMA? Every Jew will have to examine his faith and decide whether the Messiah is Jesus Christ or not. It will shake Judaism.

Every Detail Confirmed

Just think about that. Before this drama of God's plan to save man is over, every 'i' will be dotted and every 't' will be crossed.

If God is so concerned as to bring out the kinds of details that are now being revealed, so that the truth of His Word is totally self-evident by these things which exist, if He goes to so much detail on our behalf, then how much detail will He go through for YOU?

One cannot say the hill of Golgotha is where Jesus died, just because it looks like the hill. It must be verified beyond a shadow of doubt that it is the actual hill.

God is revealing such things at this consummation time of history.

Sealed Up

Absolute confirmation of our story is currently impossible because the Israeli government ordered us to seal up the entrance to the tunnel that gives access to the chamber in which rests the Ark. And we accept that.

Under instructions, Bob Murrell constructed a wooden door to close off the entrance. And some two feet of earth has been piled over it, to disguise the location.

Also, the cross-holes have been covered over with timber and gravel because the authorities do not want them revealed.

Certain rabbis may have had some influence in this decision, believing that the secret of the Ark belongs to the future time of redemption and the Messiah's appearance. They may fear that a premature disclosure of the facts could possibly delay these events.

What Now?

Is there a divine plan in this discovery of the Ark? Will something happen soon? I believe so.

Everything is still where Ron found it, completely hidden and very well guarded.

Will ALL those objects in the cave be shown publicly? We don't know.

Actually, Ron's desire is to excavate the antire area, to expose the site of the crucifixion and right down to the Ark chamber. But we don't know whether that will happen. Events ALWAYS occur differently from our expectations. Will THE ARK - perhaps just the Ark be brought out? Again, we don't know. It is deep in the earth. To get it seems almost impossible without some divine intervention.

Your prayers are requested, because at this moment there are certain people, led by satanic forces, who are attempting to bury it even deeper in the earth than it now is. What more could they fear than the evidence which lies buried there?

We DO believe that the Lord Himself will take charge and that the world will get to see the objects in that cave. We also believe that the tables of stone will, we believe this, keep reading.

Belongs To God, Not Man

Let us ever remember that this Ark belongs not to man, but to God ("And let them make me a sanctuary..." Ex.25:8).

All things in the sanctuary were patterned after the things in heaven ("the patterns of things in the heavens" Heb.9:23).

Built To Hold His Law

It was named "Ark of the Covenant" because it was built to hold His Law ("the tables... of the covenant, the ten commandments" Ex.34:28).

In God's perfect time, this Ark will be a witness to all the world - and He will prove to us that His Word endures throughout eternity. His Law remains. ("My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips" Psa.89:34).

The ONLY time God spoke to His people audibly was when He spoke His Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai. And He states,

"My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips."

A Showdown Coming

Prophecies fast fulfilling are leading up to the most monumental events of all history.

People who follow the Lord will soon face the greatest crisis ever. This may seem hard to believe in this age where we no longer must worship in hiding and the fear of persecution, but it is a scriptural fact.

The Bible predicts that shortly before Jesus Christ returns, there will emerge a New World Order, in which national boundaries will mean little. There will emerge a one-world economy (do we see it coming?) and a unified world church which will direct the political power and persecute dissenters.

Unpopular though it may be to state this, in Revelation 14:6-12 the two sides are described as

those who bow to the New World Order, represented by "the beast" and "his mark" (v.9-11) or

those termed "saints... who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus" (v.12). In this coming showdown, there will be no compromise.

"Spiritual Law's Enacted

Religious laws will be issued which, although seemingly "good and moral", will be contrary to the original commands of God.

Right now, the governments of the world are in league to regulate peace efforts and environmental and trading practices. But behind the scenes the foundation is already being laid to present a set of "universal spiritual laws". We believe that when the time comes that the "spiritual laws" are being debated and about to become the "law of the land", that the tables of God's Ten Commandments written with His own finger, will come out and be a witness to the world - before the fury breaks.

What The Discovery Will Do

"Of all the treasures yet to be discovered, what could be more important, more fascinating, and more awe-inspiring than the Tablets of the Ten Commandments. No other archaeological find would have a greater impact on the destiny of man."

So writes Rabbi Leibel Reznick, in The Holy Temnle Revisited. And we have to agree.

And here's why. We have already noted that the Ark was built especially to hold that precious Law written with God's own finger.
Above the Law was the Mercy Seat where God's Presence was manifested.
The Perfect Law required perfect obedience--anything less demanded the death of the sinner. God's Presence and God's Law are inseparable. No man can come nigh unto Him and live except through Christ, who shed His Blood on that very Mercy Seat, between God's perfect Law and God Himself.

Christ's blood didn't shatter those Tables of Stone - it shattered the chains which bound us to sin and death.

"Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven." (Psa.85:10,11).

The Ten Commandments

"Mercy and truth" met together on that Mercy Seat - when the broken Law's demand for justice struck Jesus who had become "sin" in our place - and we were granted God's mercy. Oh, what love!

"From the earth" shall spring "Truth" - when the Ark and the Tablets of Stone can be revealed to all the earth.

And, as we sit here today, our "Righteousness" is looking down from heaven, as our great High Priest advocates His Blood on our behalf before His Father.

And when the entire world can see that very Ark upon which God manifested His Own Presence, then they will see for themselves that His Law is real, that His Law will abide forever.

When the finding of the Ten Commandments inside the Ark is announced, it will go like shock waves across the world, challenging each person to come to a decision either to serve the Lord, or obey man.

Protection Promised

In this coming conflict, whoever stands for Christ will ultimately win.

"He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure." (Isa.33:16).

"And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation never to that same time: and at that time the people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book." (Dan.12:1).

The Purpose of All This

It is all very well to find the Ark of the Covenant, but to find the presence of God as a power in one's life - that is the purpose of all this. In seminars around the world, I stress that these discoveries are part of what the Lord is doing to prepare the world for His coming. Have you made certain that you are prepared for that coming? If you do not enjoy that certainty, you can find it at this moment, no matter where you are. Simply admit to God that you are a sinner, look to Jesus as your Saviour from sin, and trust God to save you from your sin for Jesus' sake.
